Van Dwelling: Day 1

It Has Begun!

So as of Wednesday December 28th, 10pm our road trip has officially begun! The days leading up were very busy! Both vehicles were sold, we picked up a trailer, finished some final touches on the van, and packed everything in the trailer and the van. It was hard to find a spot for all the cold weather clothes we will be needing.

Walden at the rest stop with our “stuff” in the trailer!

Although this trip is going to be a great way to see the country we are constantly applying for jobs. Jay and I are exhausted from job applications! I’m trying to get an environmental job so my Marine bio degree doesn’t go completely to waste!

First we saw my brother in Jacksonville, Florida, and now we are with family in North Carolina visiting my dad and cousins. And then West from here! While at my brothers, we had our last Florida oranges…

Last Florida Oranges (mini)! and limes!

We are still getting used to the small space and maneuvering around Puppy. We made tea this morning and tried to organize the van a bit. It took us about an hour and 15 minutes from when we woke up until we started on the road again. Once we get use to Walden and maneuvering around Puppy it shouldn’t take us very long to get ready in the morning.

Early morning tea before our drive!

The sky was beautiful every morning of our drive and all I could think was “this is it. I’m leaving Florida, I have no job, and I’m not coming back. Holy crap!” And it was a great feeling!
