I’ve Been Everywhere

“I was toting my pack along the long dusty Winnemucka road
When along came a semi with a high canvas covered load
If your goin’ to Winnemucka, Mack with me you can ride
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside
He asked me if I’d seen a road with so much dust and sand
And I said, ‘Listen! I’ve traveled every road in this here land!’

I’ve been everywhere, man
I’ve been everywhere, man
Crossed the deserts bare, man
I’ve breathed the mountain air, man
Travel, I’ve had my share, man
I’ve been everywhere”
-Johnny Cash

Winnemucka is really covered with dust and sand and I sure do feel like I’ve been everywhere! But no, there are still many roads I have not seen and plenty of mountains I haven’t climbed but I have been to many more places than most! Since part of this trip was dedicated to our dog Tawny, we planned to go back to the Oregon coast to spread her ashes. This lead us down many familiar roads that we had already traveled.

We had done this trip before but from the other direction. Back in August of 2012 we drove from Oregon to New Mexico for my brothers wedding. Driving through the rest of Nevada was not very exciting. We saw some pronghorn antelope but the view changed from dusty mountains to barren flat land to lush crop land. How quickly the view can change. We soon entered Oregon and the trees started to appear.

And this is where the real fun begins!
