About Me

Can you dare to live a different lifestyle? To break out of your boundaries and try something new?

Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered “Man…. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.” –Dalai Lama

I have always been unsatisfied with life as most people live it. Always I want to live more intensely and richly. Why muck and conceal one’s true longings and loves, when by speaking of them one might find someone to understand them, and by acting on them one might discover oneself? – Everett Ruess

To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug. – Helen Keller

Jay and I have started this blog to document our life adventures. Click here to see our early beginnings . Neither of us have ever really been fond of the American Dream as many call it. I never wanted to work in a cubicle and Jay never wanted to chase money. We’ve always been adventurous people and have a great love of the outdoors. We were lucky to have met each other, have so much in common, and be willing to live this different lifestyle.

Throughout the 6 years that Jay and I have been together we’ve moved cross country, twice, lived in a van, RV, and house, and had a couple of babies! We’re currently in Alaska where I’m a high school science teacher and Jay works as seasonally/part time as a track coach and weight room supervisor at the high school.

Through our blog we will share these experiences of our life, our family, and how we still live simple even if our van days are over. We now have two beautiful babies to raise and we only have one shot at doing it correctly. We want to teach them that there is more to life than chasing money and needing to drive a brand new car. Hopefully, through this blog, people will be able to see that there are different ways of living and you really can be happier with less. Fill your heart and home with love and happiness, not stuff.

Follow your dreams, Listen to your heart, and Live a Happy Life
